DEPTFORD FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

COVID-19 UPDATE

Mayor Medany and the Library Board of Trustees will be communicating and delivering messages to you before, during and after this public health crisis, COVID-19. Daily conferences are being held with our Township Emergency Operations Center/Management team to prepare our community and risk management to respond at this challenging time.

Currently, we are taking preventative measures to control the spread of this virus. We are cognitive of the severity this virus and continually remind you to wash your hands thoroughly, use sanitizer, cough into your elbow, keep at least 3 feet away from others, go home and stay home, if possible.

The Library will continue to be closed to the public, however, our Librarians will be available by email (info@deptfordpubliclibrary.org) or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/DeptfordFreePublicLibrary/) from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

As we are sure you know by now, School Administration, along with the teachers and staff have expedited the use of remote teaching thru online services. All schools are currently closed to the public, and will continue to educate and encourage the students to read books and continue with their daily work.

The Township Municipal Building remains closed to the public to reduce the risk of making contact with the virus and prevent the spread of this virus. Municipal Services will continue to run as normal but with a reduced staff. Police, Fire & EMS will continue to protect and serve our community. Trash services, MUA, and Public Works will also continue to operate with a reduced staff.

We ask of you, at this time, to please take this virus seriously as the numbers are increasing daily. We strongly recommend utilizing our on line payments for taxes, construction and court transactions.

Throughout the Township, all senior programs, sports organization and meeting gatherings of 10 or more people have been cancelled until further notice.

Seniors who need assistance, please contact 211, a vital service that connects millions of people to help every year. (http://www.211.org/). They can help you find available services and resources in our community.

Please continue to visit our website (www.deptfordpubliclibrary.org) and the Township website (www.deptford-nj.org) for updates on COVID-19.

All materials that are due while the library is closed will have their due dates extended. No fines will be accrued while we are closed. We have removed the outside bookdrop, please keep your library materials at home until we reopen. Thank you.
